Part 8

We woke up in the morning and bid farewell after a fun drive across the bridge. Frankfurt isn't too far away from Heidelberg but we had to make sure we had enough time for a car wash and the paperwork.

Part 7

After Rothenburg we were back on the road for our last full day in Germany. We made a stop at the Speyer Museum before getting to Heidelberg.

I saw a picture of the crown jewel of Speyer Museum online many years ago. My younger self vowed to go there one day because heck, how often do you get to climb into a 747-200 perched atop some stilts in the sky?

Part 5

I have a small correction on our driving map from my first entry about this trip. We didn't actually drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (it's still really fun to say). We actually drove from Munich, to Kochel, Oberau, then the Linderhof Palace.

Now on with the story!

Part 4

As the main reason for this trip came closer, the more excited we got. It didn't help that we were jet lagged. It meant tossing and turning early in the morning and seeing some VERY questionable TV on.

In the morning we decided to explore the Marienplatz area before going to the BMW Welt. There is a river next to the hotel and we literally stood there for a minute in awe. This is how bad the drought is in California. A flowing river was our tourist attraction.

OMG a river!

Part 2

"Why would you fly LAX-FRA-MUC when you have a direct flight to Munich??"

B and I are plane nuts. Notice that sentence can be interpreted two different ways. I had previously flown on a Lufthansa 747-8i before. I really enjoyed the aircraft and I wanted to experience it again with B.

D-ABYA "Brandenburg"
Some fun facts on the airplane. This is the first passenger 747-8 to enter service in the world. One of its first routes was FRA-LAX which I actually witnessed while eating a hamburger.

Germany, There and Back Again: Introduction to a European Delivery Experience

Part 1

Spring of this year B proposed to me the idea of getting a BMW to replace my Lexus since the lease is ending soon. Emotional scars that I had buried deep within immediately resurfaced. I have had horrible experiences with the maintenance of a BMW. I started shaking at the thought of seeing my car on a flat bed again in the middle of the company parking lot.

The gas! The maintenance! There is a reason why one of my friends calls it the "B-M-trouble-u!"

So I resisted.

But B is a patient man.
